Solar Shades - Stay Cool In the Summer With Solar Shades

Solar shades provide the protection from the sun that is needed without blocking all of the light from the sun. While the sun is an excellent source of light, it sometimes shines too brightly inside the home. The light can be a nuisance in a sunroom or enclosed porch, especially in the evening hours when the sun is setting. It sometimes feels like you are playing musical chairs trying to keep the sun from shining into your eyes. There are more and more warnings about the effects of the sun on the skin. Most skin products recognize this and have begun to include ingredients that block the sun’s UV rays. Many people do not realize that UV rays shining through the window can cause just as much skin damage as UV rays from outside. Solar shades provide protection for the skin by blocking as much as 66% of the sun’s rays. This is equivalent to 80% UV protection. Energy costs can be extremely high in the summer months because of the amount of cooling it takes to bring the home to a comfortable temperature. This is because the heat of the sun transmits through windows causing the home to heat up. While the air conditioning is working overtime to keep the indoor temperature at 75 degrees, the heat from the sun is making this task more difficult. Having solar shades on the windows can help to control the amount of heat the sun transmits through the windows. Solar shades are made from a fabric that keeps the heat from coming through the window. This in turn lowers the room temperature and the amount of air conditioning needed to maintain the desired temperature. Solar shades provide optimum benefits especially in the summer months when indoor temperatures can sometimes reach that of outdoor temperatures. Some shades provide privacy because they are designed so that you can see out, but outsiders cannot see in.
